Woven by the BaTonga women in the Matabeleland province of Zimbabwe, it takes one week to produce each Tonga basket. Baskets are Ilala palm fiber and are colored by organic dyes derived from the bark and root of the Umnyi tree. Used to carry dry foodstuffs, the varied traditional designs are uniquely interpreted by each and every basket. Large baskets are 22"-23" in diameter. Designs will vary somewhat. Display them with pride!
